Saturday full of experiences - Science Picnik EXPLORATION

20.05.2023 r.

It was a 'Saturday full of experience' with scientific fun, meetings and talks by science enthusiasts.

It was beautiful Day, May-like, sunny and under blooming chestnut trees.

Saturday 20 May saw the main part of the EXPLORATIONS Science Picnic, which has been organised in Rzeszów since 2010 on the initiative of the ExploRes Association.

Our team from PCN was also at the picnic with a mobile exhibition. And with Atoms, Niutons from the Podkarpackie Young Explorer Clubs from our partner schools, you could make slime, see experiments such as "disappearing ink" or compare the density of different liquids.

"A Saturday full of experience" was inaugurated by Tomasz Michalski - Director of the PCN and President of the EksploRes Association, Katarzyna Ruszała - President of the Ekoskop Association, Konrad Fijołek - Mayor of the City of Rzeszów and Jerzy Cypryś - Vice-President of the Podkarpackie Regional Assembly.

More than 60 stands located at Plac AK, Szopen Street and Lubomirski Avenue hosted scientific circles from universities, scientific institutes, schools of various levels, cultural institutions, non-governmental organisations and companies.

Rzeszów hosted exhibitors from Warsaw and Krakow, Mielec and Stalowa Wola. The largest number of stands of their scientific circles and institutes were presented by the University of Rzeszów and the Ignacy Łukasiewicz Rzeszów University of Technology.

Among the exhibitors, it was possible to visit the tents of well-known institutions such as the Copernicus Science Centre, the National Museum of Technology from Warsaw and the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences. For the first time, a team from the Institute of Palaeobiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences presented itself at the picnic. The EKOSKOP Association, co-organiser of the Picnic, invited us to a meeting with biodiversity.

All the picnic stands and the main stage hosted scientific demonstrations, micro lectures, intriguing learning workshops and interactive exhibitions, devices, installations and scientific instruments used to learn about the world and our civilisation. Visitors were able to experience at close quarters and almost "on their own" what physics, chemistry, biology, technology and ecology and environmental protection look like in practice. You could see rockets and aeroplanes, telescopes and telescopes, mathematical puzzles and artefacts from the past up close.
